Conversation with Dr. Frieda Hulka

NWHP · July 7, 2025 ·

Dr. Hulka, a lifelong Nevadan, has remained deeply connected to her community throughout her career. She earned her high school, UNR, and UNR Medical School degrees in Nevada, receiving Nevada Women’s Fund Scholarships along the way. After completing additional certifications out of state, she returned to Reno to practice medicine. She has the distinction of becoming the first woman trauma surgeon in the U.S.

Prioritizing patient care, she considers herself a doctor first and a surgeon second. Recently, she was honored by the Nevada Women’s Fund for her community service.
